About
Alyssa Nickles is a fiber artist from Charleston, SC. She graduated from Massachusettes College of Art and Design in 2025 with a Bachelors Degree in Fibers and a minor in Environmental Sustainability.
“Professionally, I aspire to create an educational and environmentally conscious art practice that highlights the beauty and complexity of the natural world. I am dedicated to exploring naturally derived materials and learning from the rich traditions of artists who have worked within this medium for generations. By immersing myself in diverse techniques and processes across global fiber practices, I intend to enrich my understanding and personal expression in the field. My artistic journey encompasses a variety of methodologies, including experimentation with resist techniques and exploration of different fiber mediums.
I strive to evoke emotion and create experiences through my work, infusing it with a sense of movement and vitality. Drawing upon my background in Fashion Design, I am eager to expand my artistic vocabulary by delving into innovative installation techniques and alternative presentation forms that transcend traditional notions of wearable art. I am committed to cultivating a practice that celebrates the natural world, encourages sustainable methods, and invites viewers to engage with the tactile and vibrant qualities of my work.”
